How to use detachment and abundance mindset for your benefit
“When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream.” – Paulo Coelho
Who else loves to imagine a life where all our wishes and dreams have come true just as we picture it? Dreaming is where all the magic happens. If I didn’t allow myself to dream, you wouldn’t be reading my blog now!
When life presents you with a new way to accomplish a dream, will you immediately dismiss it because it doesn’t align with your envisioned step-by-step plan?
Detachment from how your dreams manifest gives you peace of mind and helps you go with the flow of your life with the least resistance.
Enjoy where you are currently in making your dreams come true. Be open to alternative ways of thinking and feeling and adjust your goals to new needs and desires. Do not put all your energy and contentment into where you want your life to go… and force something to fit your imagined timeline for earned happiness.
Que Sera, Sera! (Whatever will be, will be)
Sometimes we only see what’s in front of us and consider how we feel now, not realizing that how we think in the future may be different with more wisdom and life experience.
Life is about facing detours and challenges with a mindset of abundance! Let’s consider an example: losing a job or primary source of income. Yes, this is scary and can bring stress when considering the higher costs of rent, grocery store items, etc. But don’t even get me started on that topic because this will become a long rant about the ridiculousness of paying an excessive amount of money for basic needs.
After allowing yourself moments to be upset and accepting your feelings, you can create an action plan for your next move. For example, instead of looking at getting a new job or certification as a negative, you can open your mind to being excited about what’s next!
Think about it, if you were able to be successful at that company for X number of years, and you end up no longer working there, you can look at it like, WOW, if it can get this good, imagine how much better it can be. If God gave me this talent, imagine what other gifts and experiences are available.
But if I am too attached to this area where I previously based my validation and happiness, I can’t even begin to see the blessings in store! Learning to self-validate and let go of identities is crucial to overcoming negative preconceived notions about the future and embracing where life takes you with a big cheesy smile!
There’s nothing wrong with having a goal and preparing yourself to be in the best place to get that goal but release the specifics around it.
The universe works in mysterious ways..
How you get something may happen when the universe intervenes, and that’s usually a recipe of your work ethic, a pint of magic, a cup full of luck, and your creator with the Midas touch mixing the ingredients to get the right amount!
Now, where in that recipe did you see worry, fear, or doubt? You didn’t! Those words are no longer in our vocabulary. Our brains can’t even fathom how things will happen, so detaching from our rigid, specific expectations gives us peace about our future.
For example, suppose your goal is to move somewhere new in 5 years. In that case, you look up the costs of moving to that place; you look up the surrounding area to determine its safety; you look up videos and articles about people’s experience living there; you look up living costs, etc. Then you start saving for moving expenses, but in year 3, you get a job opportunity requiring a different location, or you join a community near your current site that you feel connected to.
Do you let go of the dream entirely or try being flexible about when, where, and how you accomplish your goals? There must be a balance of knowing where you want to go but expecting life not to go exactly as planned.
Usually, the universe has something better for you, which may include extending your timeline from 5 to 10 years due to pregnancy, taking care of a loved one, etc. Still, the benefit of doing this could be that in 10 years, you have been saving, paying your debts, and are much more likely to be financially stable moving than where you would have been before.
Or you could have more time to travel to the area you want to move to before deciding. Maybe you’ll discover this place is better as a travel destination, or the next city over is better suited to your needs. Then, when you are super attached to moving at a set time, and life tells you not right now, you can try to see the forest past the trees.
Don’t let a ‘not right now’ from the universe deter you, and allow it to significantly affect your current mentality and peace.
Being open-minded is an excellent flex (to yourself)
Detachment is about not being too stuck on a specific outcome. I love this blog and design and want to keep at it, but if I need to change the layout or move to another hosting website where this design isn’t available, I’m already thinking about new ways to design and structure the website just in case.
Being detached can be a great skill because it can help you think three steps ahead or three steps diagonally instead of focusing on only one lane ahead. Like how you’re making a left turn on a two-way street and must continuously look both ways before making your turn.
When you add an abundance mindset to detaching, you allow yourself to be open to the endless possibilities of how your dreams can be a reality.
“There’s something awesome about submitting your will to the Spirit and letting God guide your life. You’ll likely find yourself in places and doing things you could have never imagined before.”
